How appealing is this?
by Half banana inwould you join a religion which says everyone who is not a member will be killed by god?.
would you join a religion which you know that statistically if you stay in it long enough, there is a high chance that it will split your family apart?.
would you join a religion which demands that you preach to your neighbours that they are soon going to die if they don’t believe your message?.

most new members joining the cult are miserable wretches in appalling third world countries. who wouldnt find life on a paradise earth appealing ? almost as good as a passport out of wherever they are.
those that join in the western world are usually a slice short of a full loaf.

A Short Life Story - Part 4 (Finale)
by pale.emperor ina continuation from part 3, which is here: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/4807117397557248/short-life-story-part-3#!#4918071166763008.
my wife had settled into a routine of waking up at 6am each day, cleaning (so no chance of a lie in for me or our daughter with the vacuum cleaner going), eating very little, picking the skin off her lips while she sits there in a trance obsessing over things that are out of our control and dont matter anyway.
she never did return to work.

Really struggling to go on
by Isambard Crater inso, so much has happened in my life over the years and continues to happen, but i won't go into the details as it would take a long time.. i don't really know why, but i returned to "the truth" 15 years ago.
in 2012 when the tv broadcasting station launched, i started to develop doubts.
the australian royal commission and other scandals made me angrier, and i now don't believe most of the core teachings.. the only reason i show up at 5 or 6 meetings each month is to keep in contact with my parents and a few other family members.. but it's killing me, literally.

so you would eat poisoned food--knowing it will kill you--AND them--rather than hurt their feelings-????

Getting your WT files deleted (UK)
by Splash inthe uk are tightening up their data protection laws to make it easier for individuals to get hold of the information organisations hold on them and to get it deleted.. i think paul grundy (jwfacts) went through this with wt once and found it very time consuming and difficult.. will wt now abide by the law and hand over or permanently delete the records it keeps when requested?it would mean every uk exjw could have their report card info, personal file with age, sex, baptism date, judicial information, appointment/deletion/disfellowshipping dates, letters of disassociation, letters of recommendation when you move, phone number and address permanently removed.
anyone acting for the wt (elders) who retain this information, eg your phone number in their phone or the secretary keeping your historical monthly report details, will be in violation.
failure to comply will incur a fine.. expect a letter to all boe's any time soon explaining why this does not apply to them.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40826062.

when i cleared out my late fathers house--i came across a large cardboard box full of what looked like report cards and other bumf. it looked like records of members of his congregation. unfortunately i accidentally took it to the dump along with 50+years worth of old watchtower magazines and books.
whoops.

the last big assembly i attended--in the UK---was at the old wembley stadium ( london ) about 69--or 70 i think.
it seemed to rain all the time.
i vowed i would never attend another.
i kept that promise.

"Even if this wasn't the truth, I would still stay. This is the best life to live..."
by HereIgo ini was recently told this by a jw family member when trying to get through to them.
does this quote indicate that maybe such ones have considered that the jw's may not have the truth after all?
or is that just my wishful thinking?

i think i could be a dub again--if only i didnt have to shun people...go to meetings--or even worse:arsemblies. or go door knocking.
i suppose belief in a god would be a help too.
well--at least i dont smoke anymore--so i'm half way there.
